Connect with Confidence led by DBAA

24 November 2025

How do you make your research resonate beyond academia? The DICE Network+ Early Career Researcher (ECR) Community explored exactly that during an inspiring workshop delivered by Developing Business Aware Academics (DBAA) and Rachel Vowles as part of our Surrey Roadshow on 24 November 2025.

The session, Connect with Confidence, was packed with energy and practical strategies to help researchers reduce jargon, communicate with clarity, craft concise and compelling messages about their work, and identify research areas best suited for collaboration.

Why does this matter? Because impactful research doesn’t stop at publication. It thrives when we build bridges with non-academic organisations, share ideas in accessible ways, and create partnerships that drive real-world change—principles at the heart of the DICE Network+.

Participants left with actionable tools to tell their research story without losing its essence, engage confidently with industry and other non-academic stakeholders, and spot opportunities for collaboration that amplify impact.

This workshop was more than a training session; it was a confidence boost and a development milestone for our ECR community. A huge thank you to DBAA and Rachel Vowles for making this possible and for championing the skills that help researchers thrive beyond the academic bubble.
