DICE N+ ECR Community Event

04 September 2026

We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming Early Career Researcher Community Event on 4 September at Loughborough University, from 09:30-15:00.

This free event is a great opportunity for ECRs working at the intersection of Digital Innovation and Circular Economy to meet industry partners, expand their network, support their career development, gain practical insights, and explore how their research can drive real-world impact.

The day will include a full agenda of:

🏭 Industry visits:

  • Intelligent Energy: Visit Intelligent Energy, a UK leader in hydrogen fuel cells, and learn how cutting-edge engineering is driving innovation in clean energy.
  • R3VTech Ltd: Meet R3VTech Ltd., a cutting-edge spinout from Loughborough University, whose mission is to create new revenue streams for industry through circular economy approaches, demonstrating research can translate into impactful, real-world solutions.

🤝 Networking & community
Connect with a diverse community of fellow ECRs from across the UK and build valuable new relationships.

🎤 Interactive workshop
Take part in a challenge-based workshop exploring digital innovation for a circular economy.

💡 IP & Commercialisation Training
Gain insights from Loughborough’s Research & Innovation Office on how to protect your ideas and translate them into real-world ventures.

🗣️ Career Panel
Hear from speakers at different career stages, sharing experiences, career development journeys, and practical advice on navigating pathways of translating research into practice.

In addition, you are welcome to join a 90-minute online workshop on bridging research and industry cultures delivered in advance of the event by  colleagues from Developing Business Aware Academics. Ideal for researchers with limited prior experience of external engagement, the workshop will develop skills in identifying areas for collaboration, crafting compelling narratives with clarity and will start to build a toolkit towards transforming research into action with non-academic partners.

To support accessibility, the DICE N+ Access Fund is available to contribute towards travel costs.
