Connecting Circular Innovation Across Sectors: Highlights from the FIVE-C Symposium
As part of our ongoing work to support cross-sector collaboration in the circular economy, DICE Network+ Lead Professor Fiona Charnley and Research and Impact Fellow Diego Bermudez participated in the FIVE-C Symposium: Circular Materials and Lifecycle Innovation across FIVE-C Sectors, held at the University of Salford.
The event brought together more than 35 participants from academia, industry and policy to explore opportunities for circular innovation across digital, construction, fashion and textiles, renewable energy and healthcare.
Fiona opened the symposium with a keynote on Creating Value from a Circular Economy: A Cross-Sector Perspective, exploring opportunities for circular innovation across sectors, disciplines and material flows.
Later in the day, Diego presented DICE Network+ research on circular data centres, sharing insights into how circular economy thinking can be applied to digital infrastructure.
Looking Ahead:
The FIVE-C Symposium reinforced the importance of working across traditional sector and disciplinary boundaries to address shared challenges around materials, resources, sustainability and innovation.
The DICE Network+ will continue contributing to these conversations through its research, partnerships and cross-sector community, helping to connect digital innovation with circular economy thinking and create opportunities for collaboration across academia, industry and policy.
