DICE Network+ host a panel at the GDSA Summit

26 February 2026

On 25 March, the DICE N+ attended the Government Digital Sustainability Alliance Summit 2026 with our Research & Impact Fellow, Diego, hosting a panel.

The event brought together an exceptional community of organisations, policymakers, and innovators committed to shaping a more sustainable, resilient, and circular digital future.

A highlight for us was seeing our Research & Impact Fellow, Diego Bermudez, contribute to the Circular by Design panel alongside:

🔹 Ray Knight – Head of Sustainability Services, Atos
🔹 Edd Parry – Director, Group Infrastructure & Operations, Digital Data & Technology Services, Defra
🔹 Steve Haskew – Director of Sustainability & Client Engagement, Circular Computing
🔹 Ekaterina Smid Gankin – Senior Circular Procurement Advisor, Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management

The conversation explored how circular principles can be embedded meaningfully into digital and ICT systems — from procurement and design to long‑term value retention.

Insights from Edd Parry were particularly compelling:

  • The public sector has a responsibility to spend public money wisely, and reuse often delivers a cost‑effective approach.
  • Confidence in remanufactured devices continues to grow, with more people willing to adopt them because of what they represent for sustainability and responsible digital practice.
  • High‑quality, reliable devices help employees feel valued, supporting greater engagement and productivity.
  • A circular device strategy can reshape organisational and individual behaviour, encouraging longer use, better use, and more efficient resource stewardship.

Throughout the day, it was clear that collaboration, ambition, and evidence‑based decision‑making are central to accelerating digital sustainability at scale.
